Research and development in automation and inkjet

Decide before you invest. We validate ideas on the test bench and take them all the way to the production line.

A new project raises questions that can only be answered by testing: whether the ink can be jetted, whether the process holds up at speed, whether the investment pays back. We answer them with measurements, not assumptions.

01

Feasibility studies

Before you commit budget, we check whether an idea is technically and economically feasible: which technology fits, what risks it carries and what it takes to bring it into production.

  • Requirements and current process analysis
  • Comparison of technologies and suppliers
  • Identification of technical risks
  • Investment and timeline estimate
  • Feasibility
  • Risk analysis
02

Proofs of concept and test benches

We build test benches to validate an idea with your substrate, your ink or your process, and deliver measurable results.

  • Inkjet print test benches
  • Process tests with instrumentation and data acquisition
  • Dropwatcher measurements and print trials
  • Reports with results and recommendations
  • Proof of concept
  • Test bench
  • Data acquisition
03

New inkjet applications

Inkjet does more than decorate: it also deposits materials precisely. We assess whether a fluid can be printed and develop the process to do it.

  • Characterisation of new fluids (jettability)
  • Functional printing and printed electronics
  • Coatings and material deposition
  • Digital glazes and effects
  • Jettability
  • Functional printing
  • Material deposition
04

Prototypes and industrialisation

From the test bench to a machine that runs shift after shift: control, software, documentation and handover to the team that will use it.

  • Control system and software design
  • Functional prototypes
  • Scale-up to production
  • Technical documentation and training
  • Prototype
  • Industrialisation
05

Technology selection and audits

As independent engineers, we recommend the solution that fits your process, not a particular manufacturer’s.

  • Control and instrumentation architecture selection
  • Printhead, ink and curing selection
  • Audits of installed lines and machines
  • Improvement plan with measurable goals
  • Independent engineering
  • Audit

Support for R&D projects

We write the technical part of projects applying for public R&D funding or tax incentives, and document their results.

  • Project technical report
  • Work plan and deliverables
  • Documentation of results
  • R&D&I
  • Technical report

What a project looks like

  1. DefineThe goal and how to measure it

What we want to achieve and the criteria to decide whether we have.

  2. TestOn the test bench

We test with your substrate and your process, with objective measurements.

  3. PrototypeA version that works

A functional prototype that proves the solution in real conditions.

  4. IndustrialiseAll the way to production

Scale-up, documentation and training to run shift after shift.

FAQ

What people usually ask us about R&D.

Do you sign confidentiality agreements?

Yes. We sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before discussing project details whenever you need one.

Who owns the project results?

This is agreed in writing before we start, depending on the type of project. We want you to know from the outset what is yours.

Do I need to have chosen the technology before talking to you?

No. Many projects start with a problem or an idea, with no technology chosen. That is exactly what the feasibility study is for.

Can you help with projects applying for R&D funding?

Yes, on the technical side: we define the work plan, write the technical report and document the results. The administrative application can be handled by your adviser or a specialised consultancy.
